Barr EOM (Office) integrates with Microsoft’s Active Directory, as well as other LDAP servers. User management is a key part of Barr EOM (Office), as many of the product’s features depend on permissions assigned to users and groups. To make life as easy as possible for Barr EOM (Office) administrators, our software integrates with Microsoft’s Active Directory, as well as other LDAP servers.
The Console is the primary administrative user interface for Barr EOM (Office). Based on Microsoft’s .Net technology, it is deployable on multiple computers and communicates with the Barr EOM (Office) server components. It is how administrators, operators, and help desk staff interact with our product. It is just one interface, but what it shows can vary tremendously depending on the role and permissions of the logged in user.
For example, the central system administrator would see all the applications and all destinations, sources, documents, and reports. Security administrators on the other hand might only see the groups of destinations and sources and their only right would be to assign security rights to these. Operators in a production print environment would only see the individual printers they are responsible for. Similarly, regional administrators can only see the groups of destinations and sources they are maintaining.
Actions available in the Console are also restricted based on the role of the logged in user. For instance, every link in the Tools menu can be enabled or disabled depending on the user’s permission level.
