Everyday, printers run out of supplies and problems such as paper jams stop machines. The questions are how do you find out when these things happen and what can you do to keep your print infrastructure running smoothly?

Use Barr EOM to Monitor and Audit Enterprise Printing

Barr EOM monitors all of your printers for errors and provides immediate notifications when they occur. These errors include common issues such as low supplies, network problems, and paper jams. Monitoring your printers means that you will discover issues before they impact your organization. More importantly, Barr EOM can manage the documents waiting in your print queues. Instead of just alerting you of an issue, when Barr EOM detects potential problems with a printer, it can automatically redirect the print jobs to other printers or hold them in the queue until you decide what to do.

When a printer fails, documents are usually left sitting the print queue. If you are only using Windows Print Queues, someone has to purge the documents and the users have to start over and reprint everything. With Barr EOM, you can also select all of the print jobs already in the print queue and redirect them to another destination. In addition, Barr EOM is constantly monitoring your print devices so you can configure it to react immediately and without user intervention to redirect your critical print jobs to another device in case of failure. Finally, everything that happens in Barr EOM is saved in the database providing you with an audit trail of who is printing, what they are printing, and where they are printing it.
