Barr Joins PDF/A Competence Center

Barr Ready to Fly PDF/A Standard

GAINESVILLE, Fla.— Barr Systems is pleased to announce our affiliation with The PDF/A Competence Center, an organization that has brought together many leading companies in the document industry.  The Center works to support PDF/A as the leading standard in archival retrieval.  This alliance will ensure that Barr can provide our customers with the latest technology in document archive capabilities.

PDF/A is the ISO 19005 standard for long-term archiving in PDF format. It comprises a limited variant of PDF, a standard for the use of PDF in long-term archiving. These and other specifications are intended to ensure long-term readability of the documents regardless of the application software and operating system in which they were originally produced. Experts predict that the designation of PDF/A as an ISO standard will promote the popularity of that format, and advantages such as full text search capabilities will lead to it replacing TIFF in the near future.
